FOR THE PEOPLE OF OUR CITY

 

“By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown” (Prov. 11:11).

 

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way” (1 Tim. 2:1-2).

 

The Bible teaches us to pray for the people in our city, especially those in authority over us. We often criticize our government leaders without ever praying for them. However, if we believe God can and does change people's hearts and society's direction by His power, we must lift our prayers for the people in our community and those in authority. Please pray:

• for a spiritual awakening of people in your neighborhood;

• that you will be a light to your neighbors through your life and words that speak the truth of the Gospel;

• for leaders in our city to serve with integrity, justice, and godly wisdom;

• that the Gospel of Christ would bring healing to many in our city whose lives have been devastated by sin;

• for the upcoming music event on August 11th, as we will share the Gospel with our community;

• that God would strengthen our city's churches to share the Good News without shame or timidity.
